# CookWithJames > Private hands-on cooking classes and culinary experiences in San Francisco, California. ## About CookWithJames is owned and operated by James Stolich, a private chef and cooking instructor based in San Francisco. James has over 10 years of teaching experience and has hosted 10,000+ guests in his home kitchen. He specializes in Italian and Spanish cuisine. James grew up on a 50-acre horse farm near the Salinas Valley. His family has deep roots in California produce — his grandfather started Sun Harvest, one of the first produce companies in the Salinas Valley. James holds a Master's degree in Spanish literature from Middlebury College and lived in Spain for two years. He previously worked in advertising in San Francisco for 12 years before launching CookWithJames full-time in 2009. James staged at Quince, a Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco. He was the official food columnist for the Nob Hill Gazette from 2011 to 2018. He sources ingredients from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, where he is friends with the farmers, including Norman, and Jill & Tallia at Four Sisters Farms. ## Cooking Classes All classes are held in James's private home kitchen in San Francisco (Ashbury Heights). Classes are 3 hours and include hands-on instruction, all ingredients, recipes, and a sit-down meal. BYOB. Groups of 4-12 guests.
